WHAT THE RESURRECTION MEANS TO THE BELIEVER

One author posed this interesting thought concerning those who raise objections to the miracles of the Bible. “If miracles are impossible, then they are not actual, and if no miracles ever actually happened, then Christianity is false. For the fundamental claims and doctrines of Christianity are all miracles: (The) Incarnation, resurrection, salvation, inspiration. If any one of these objections is valid, the whole of Christianity is refuted.” Handbook of Christian Apologetic

As you read through the gospels, you hear this same approach toward the ministry and the message of the Lord Jesus Christ. His public ministry spanned some three years, and in those three years there, was the constant badgering, slandering, and accusing of the religious leaders and religious people of His day.

Jesus warned of their unbelief and the doctrine of their unbelief. Matthew 16:12 Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Their doctrine was a damnable doctrine. Matt 23:15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.

The religious skeptics of Jesus day would make statements like this. Matt 12:38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” And Jesus answered like this. Verse 39 An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

The Lord Jesus gave them the only sign that would be a final say for all signs to come, the sign of the resurrection. Jesus answered these religious folks with a proclamation of His resurrection. Matthew 16:4 “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So He left them and departed.

Skepticism has been leveled at Christianity since the time of Jesus Christ. In the noise of everyday life and in the face of this constant badgering the Lord Jesus Christ reaffirm to unbelievers over and over again that His sign would be the sign of the resurrection. The resurrection is the final answer to all skepticism. That God’s Son did rise from the dead is an irrefutable fact proven by the many who have believed on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Read What God’s Word says about this powerful fact.

Romans 10:9 Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

That for anyone to come to Christ they must believe in the resurrection, the fool proof and most sacred of all creeds to be believe with “thine heart.” Have you really believed in your heart “that God hath raised Him from the dead”? If you have, then the life you now live in Christ will show the results of the resurrection. Christian are you really living as though you believe in the resurrection? Are you living in the power of the resurrected life?

If you do not know Christ believe on Him today, before it is eternally too late. Don’t be like the skeptics and wait for a sign. The sign has already been given. It is the resurrection.

The heart is the secret most place of man that only God knows. It is the place He works in man. Will you repent and turn in your heart toward the risen Savior today? He promises salvation to all who believe. Trust Him today and live in the power of the resurrection! Don’t look for a sign! Look unto the Savior! 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
