MILITARY & LAW ENFORCEMENT

Military and Law enforcement life is challenging to say the least.

The lives of military personnel are often overlooked by the general public. Less than half of one percent of Americans are in the military. Roughly 7.3% of all Americans who are still alive have served in the armed forces. As you can see, despite making some of the biggest sacrifices for our freedom, those who are currently or have served in the military make up a very small portion of our population. The people who have sacrificed the greatest for our freedom, who gave all lie silent in the grave. We should honor those who serve and those who have served in the military with the utmost respect and admiration. We should honor the memory of those who sacrificed the most, who gave their lives for our freedom.

In Law enforcement, it is estimated that there are 3.5 police officers for every 1,000 Americans. When comparing the number of sworn officers to the total population, it becomes clear that law enforcement officers represent a very small percentage of the overall population, approximately 0.3%. Yet, they are often called upon to do significantly more than the average person does in a typical workday, sometimes without acknowledgment for their duties.

Their profession involves unique day-to-day stressors such as long hours, fluctuating shifts, exposure to trauma- often extreme- and daily encounters with potential life-threatening scenarios. They enforce the law, make arrests in the most challenging situations, engage in scuffles, face immediate life-threatening decisions, endure endless lies, and become hardened amidst the most heart-wrenching experiences imaginable.

Additionally, law enforcement poses unique challenges for their families and marriages due to the stress inherent in their profession. We should be grateful for their service, thank them when we see them serving our community, and pray for them and their families.
